This Privacy Policy explains how Muze Rentals LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company ("muze," "we," "us"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use the muze app, website, and services (the "Service"). By using muze, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
| Account info | Your name, your school .edu email (used to verify you're a student and set your campus), your campus, and any profile details or monogram you add. |
| Listings & content | Photos, titles, brands, sizes, prices, and descriptions of items you list, plus reviews and messages you send. |
| Rental & transaction data | The rentals you request or accept, dates, and status. Payments are processed by Stripe; muze receives confirmation and payout details but does not store your full card number. |
| Messages | Messages you exchange with other users about a rental, so we can deliver them and help resolve reports. |
| Device & usage | Basic device information and, if you allow notifications, a push token so we can send them. We may collect limited app-usage and diagnostic information. |
2. How we use your information
- Run the Service: verify you're a student, place you on your campus, show listings, and facilitate rentals and handoffs.
- Process payments and payouts through Stripe.
- Send you notifications and important messages about your account and rentals.
- Keep muze safe: review reports, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms (including removing listings or suspending accounts).
- Improve the app and understand how it's used.
3. How we share your information
- With other students: your first name, campus, listings, reviews, and the messages you send are visible to the people you rent with. To arrange a handoff, you and the other user share the details you both choose to.
- With service providers who help us run muze, under their own privacy terms: Stripe (payments), Supabase (database, accounts, storage), Netlify (hosting), and Apple (push notifications).
- For legal and safety reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of muze, our users, or the public.
- In a business transfer: if muze is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to run the Service and meet legal obligations. You can delete your account at any time in the app's settings, which removes your profile and listings. We may retain limited records (for example, transaction records) where required or to prevent fraud.
5. Security
muze is limited to verified students, and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, please keep your login private.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access or update your profile information in the app.
- Delete your account and content from settings.
- Turn notifications on or off through your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your data, contact us to exercise them.
7. Age
muze is for students who are at least 17 years old; users under 18 must have a parent or guardian's agreement to our Terms. muze is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
8. Third-party services
Payments, hosting, and notifications rely on the providers listed above, each of which handles data under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review Stripe's and Apple's privacy policies for how they process your information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and significant changes will be reflected in the app or on this page.
